About Agnes Zabawa

Agnes Zabawa is an artist working in design, sculpture, and fiber art in Chicago, Illinois. Her favorite theme revolves around mysticism. Through the process of making each piece, space is explored and the experience of ritual is manifested. She invites the viewer to become part of Mystical - to wonder, to explore, and to find their own story within the work. Her current fascination is embroidery and fiber arts. This work is influenced by concepts of feminism - in particular, the questioning of the notion that a woman's physical attractiveness should be their number one priority always, exploring body-positivity and the rejection of traditional standards of beauty, or even of physical appearance as a measurement of self-worth
